What last year's participants had to say about the programs:

  • "This training/practicum was exactly what I needed to move me forward in providing effective therapy to children! The interactive mentorship was the key!" - Tammy H.
  • Excellent symposium, amazing practicum - slightly terrifying but wonderfully rewarding!... I'll definitely be recommending this to co-workers!" -Dana G.
  • I cannot tell you how much I learned from you this week!" - Katie R.

Week one - Symposium:

Lectures will cover the development of auditory function, speech acoustics, auditory development, and strategies for developing listening and spoken language including classroom application. In addition, an overview of pediatric cochlear implantation and implementation of music therapy, as well a trouble shooting laboratory focusing on externally worn implant equipment will be provided.

Week two - Practicum:

Practicum in listening and spoken language:
Participants will provide therapy to implanted children and gain experience counseling their parents. After each therapy session, the participant will meet with their coach and receive oral and written feedback. Participants will brainstorm each day about how to use toys and other materials to promote listening and spoken language.
